The famous psychotherapist Carl Jung was a big proponent of the concept of ‘the collective unconscious’ or ‘subconscious.’
He also talked about the idea of ‘synchronicities’ – A.K.A ‘ meaningful coincidences’ – in his words “events that aren’t causally linked, but share deep psychological significance.”
These appear in the external world and can take us by surprise, often providing sudden insights and epiphanies.
Jung implied that the more we acknowledge the synchronicities at work in our own lives, the more our mind is receptive to recognising them. In his own words: “ Synchronicity is an ever present reality for those who have eyes to see.”
I have experienced many of these type of events – which never fail to leave me with both a sense of awe and of comfort. I’ve heard them also be described as “winks from the Universe”, or ‘God’s way of remaining anonymous.” For me personally, this is exactly what they feel like. A ‘heads up’ from a higher, loving intelligence, who (unsurprisingly , really, being all Omniscient and sh*t!…) knows me – and my dreams and desires – better than I do myself, manifests people, circumstances and events into my life that I didn’t even know I needed ( but feel the benefit of when they arrive ), is always working towards my highest good, and to top it all, has a FANTASTIC , NEXT-LEVEL sense of humour.
I’ll be sharing some of the best crazy, magical synchronicities I’ve experienced in my next few blog posts- and I welcome others to share their own in comments, or use this as a prompt 🙂
For now, I’m going to leave you with two other statements from Carl Jung on the nature of synchronicity:
”Synchronicity reveals the meaningful connections between the subjective and objective world.” – C.J.Jung
”Synchronicity is the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect, and that is meaningful to the observer.”
